Purpose and Objectives: 

The goal of Task 30 is to perform analysis to enable informed decisions that lead to sustainable clean energy systems. The specific objectives:

Background:

Task 30 was preceded by the work of the Analysis Committee to provide data and analysis from within the expertise of the HIA. An early impetus was to answer the question Where will the hydrogen come from?

Description:

Task 30 has three subtasks, each contributing to the goal of providing expertise within the HIA for systems analysis. The three subtasks are:

Experts meet twice per year, with one of those semiannual meetings in Paris.

Participants:

Members of Task 30 include Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the US. Potential additional members include Australia, Denmark, and UK.

Progress and Products:

Task 30 held its first experts meeting in mid-September 2010.  Work is ongoing to develop a data base of hydrogen resources and demand projections for the supply and demand study; to develop a data base of hydrogen technology performance parameters; and to collaborate with analysts at IEA (Paris) on analysis for the World Energy Outlook and Energy Technology Perspectives products.
